  Nest kids club

  Kids club was the best. My son had the best holiday each day he ask to go to the kids club explorers club. He was happy and had loads to do each day. Educational and fun win-win .He was safe and so happy. Thank you Reina, Candy, Pamela, Estrella and a special thank you to Luisanna.

  The location was pretty great not to far from the airport and we loved that atmosphere was amazing so much going on loved all the different things that were offered to us room was great very good size for us value of amazing especially with all the activities and amenities that are there every where in the resort was clean the staff made sure of it I would like to say my personal concierge Carlos was amazing I was there for my birthday they had me a cake as well as they sung happy birthday to me as well as there was a Carlos from when I first got there he helped with our bags and showed us around he was amazing full of life very helpful then there’s Juan and Deniche they are amazing so nice and helpful they even were teaching me some Spanish I loved the entire trip. Definitely will be making this a trip in my books again just because of these staff members

  We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay!

  We stayed at this hotel for nine days with our four-year-old child, and overall we were very happy with our stay. We stayed in a separate area where the pools were shared only by guests from two buildings. It was a little quieter, more peaceful, and felt very clean, which we really appreciated, especially while travelling with a young child. The hotel itself is very pleasant, and any questions or small issues we had were resolved immediately. The food was also surprisingly good. I was three months pregnant and struggling with nausea, but I still enjoyed eating at the restaurant. There was always a great variety of fresh food prepared right in front of us, and our child enjoyed the meals as well. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best season for swimming in the sea because of the seaweed. However, there were so many activities and entertainment options at the hotel that we never got bored. The only thing I found a little annoying was the beach vendors constantly approaching guests and offering their services. Since the hotel already has shops and provides all the necessary services and excursions, I found this unnecessary and sometimes quite intrusive. That said, I don't think this is specific to this hotel, as it seems to be common in many resorts. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially for families with children. Everything was convenient and easily accessible, and I never felt like I had to go far to find anything I needed. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay!

  Our experience at Sunscape Coco Punta Cana – unfortunately not one we’d recommend

  We stayed at Sunscape Coco Punta Cana from 19–26 August as a group of six from the UK. This was our first time in the Dominican Republic and unfortunately our experience was really disappointing from the start. When we arrived, check-in took around two hours. My roommate and I then ended up going through three different rooms. The first room had what looked like bed bugs on both mattresses. We were moved to another room, but the AC wasn't working, there was a horrible smell, the phone wasn't connected and the TV wasn't working. At that point we'd had enough and went back to reception asking for a refund on the upgrade. The manager apologised and said he wanted us to enjoy our stay and have a great holiday. He offered us another room and said he would personally check and sign it off. The room seemed fine, so we accepted it. Sadly, that was the room where our belongings were later stolen. It wasn't just us having room problems either. Two other people in our group went to the room they'd been allocated and found other guests already staying in it, so they had to go back to reception and be given another room. On 23 August, my roommate and I came back after being out for the evening and realised two of our bags and personal belongings were missing. We reported it straight away and completed an incident report with the hotel. The way the situation was handled that night made things even more frustrating. The night-shift manager and security staff weren't particularly helpful or reassuring considering what had happened. We were obviously upset and concerned, especially after everything we'd already experienced since arriving, but we were being told to calm down rather than feeling like the seriousness of the situation was being acknowledged. We also weren't proactively offered another room that night despite reporting that someone may have entered our room and taken our belongings. The night manager told us to come down to concierge at around 9am and gave us the impression he would be there to assess what had happened and go through the evidence. We went down as requested, only to be told he wasn't there and was apparently off, despite telling us to come down at that time. That didn't exactly give us much confidence in how the situation was being handled. Our two missing bags were eventually recovered, but every valuable item inside them was gone. What also didn't sit right with us was where we were told the bags had been found. We were told they had been recovered from bushes behind our patio/room area. However, we had looked around that area ourselves that night when we first realised our belongings were missing and the bags weren't there when we checked. I'm not going to speculate about how they ended up there because I simply don't know, but the circumstances around where and when they were found left us with even more questions. We still wanted a proper explanation of exactly where the bags were recovered, when they were found and by whom. The most worrying part came afterwards. We were told by hotel management/security that they had reviewed CCTV and seen local children who weren't hotel guests entering our room from the rear. We were told they appeared to have accessed the resort from the public beach side. That obviously raised serious questions for us about security and how people who aren't staying at the hotel could apparently get into the resort and reach occupied guest accommodation. I questioned how staff/security identify who is actually staying there and who isn't, particularly when there isn't an obvious form of guest identification. While we were spending so much time at concierge trying to sort everything out, we also personally saw other guests coming in reporting belongings being stolen or taken, which made us even more concerned about what was going on. We then had to make two trips to the police station to get the police report we needed. The relevant person wasn't available on our first visit, so we had to return again later. I ended up paying £93.60 in taxi costs for those journeys, as well as losing a lot of time from our holiday dealing with everything. There are a couple of other things I'd make people aware of too. There was often a really unpleasant smell around parts of the resort and near the beach. It seemed to be coming from the seaweed in the sea, but unfortunately you could smell it within parts of the resort as well. Also, if you're vegetarian or don't eat certain meats such as bacon or ham, I'd keep an eye on how your food is being cooked at the buffet. From what I personally saw, different foods could be cooked using the same cooking area/equipment. If this matters to you, make sure you ask them to clean the cooking surface and utensils first. I also saw another guest raise this with one of the chefs and the chef appeared to get annoyed and angry about it, which wasn't nice to see. There were some positives. We stayed in Sun Club and the pool and bar were nice. There were also a few members of staff who were genuinely lovely and helpful. In particular, the two women at concierge who helped us were kind, polite and did their best to assist us, and the lady who originally helped arrange our upgrade was lovely too. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about all of the staff we dealt with. Only a handful really made us feel like they wanted to help, and considering the seriousness of what happened, we expected much more support and reassurance. After the incident, all six of us felt uncomfortable and uncertain about the security of our rooms and belongings for the rest of the holiday. It completely changed the atmosphere of the trip and disrupted our plans. Instead of relaxing and enjoying the holiday we'd paid for, we spent a lot of time dealing with reception, concierge, management, security and the police, while also worrying about whether our belongings were safe. I've now raised a formal complaint with Sunscape Coco Punta Cana and Hyatt because there are still serious questions that need answering, particularly around the security of the resort, what was found on CCTV, exactly how and where our bags were recovered, and how people who we were told weren't hotel guests were apparently able to reach our room. It's a shame because we were genuinely looking forward to this holiday and there were some nice parts of the resort and some lovely staff members. But based on everything our group experienced, particularly the theft, the unanswered questions around the recovery of our bags, the security concerns and how the situation was handled afterwards, I personally wouldn't recommend staying here.
