Our room 1153 conditions were very unsanitary. My husband's eyes swelled up and pussed from the mold and in the room. Nearly 2 week since we left and both eyes are still horrible after 4 trips to ER and missing work . Pool was also closed one day because of unsanitary water. No response from US head office and staff at the resort didn't seem to care about any complaints made. Many new friends made while on trip got sick for 2-3days with stomach issues. Bartenders and resturant stay were very nice and friendly though. We travel alot and this was a hell vacation.

Worth the visit
My stay at Viva Fortuna was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome with their friendly and attentive service. The hotel's amenities were excellent, especially the beautiful pool, the beach, and delicious on-site restaurants. Every meal was fresh and flavorful. The location was perfect. What truly made this stay memorable was the exceptional hospitality. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable and enjoyable experience. We left feeling refreshed and already looking forward to our next visit. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to the Bahamas! One of the best parts of our stay was the entertainment. Every evening there was something different. The entertainment team did a fantastic job. During the day, they organized activities like beach games, poolside trivia, and fitness classes, which made it easy to meet other travelers and keep busy if you wanted. The rooms could definitely use some updating, especially the furniture and bathrooms, but everything was very clean and well cared for. Housekeeping did an excellent job every day, and the room was always spotless when we returned. It is recommended to take water shoes for the beach, as it is rocky when you get in.

Let me start by saying the beach was beautiful and the people who worked there were great. We did enjoy two of the restaurants. The room, while cool, lacked even simple lighting and had to be sprayed for ants At least twice. We found them on our pillows too. The fridge was rusted out and the water in the bathroom smelled terrible. The soap, shampoo and lotion provided were also not typical Wyndham quality. Unfortunately, the main buffet area and really all of the common areas have no a/c. This made eating and relaxing almost unbearable. Choosing seats in the buffet with the best airflow became a sport. You could see the heat in the area just by looking at the melted sliced cheese on the cold portion of the buffet. The potato salad, seafood salad and other mayo based foods were also hot- on the cold bar. Gluten free is non existent and foods are not labeled correctly. The food was very repetitive - I was able to eat cabbage and carrots at most meals, including breakfast. Lots of canned fruit, pudding, and mainly honey dew, cantaloupe, apples and oranges for fruit. There was no iced tea or decaf coffee to be found in the buffet. No milk alternatives either. The beverages from the bars lacked simple garnish and were all very sweet. By evening, ice was also at a premium and you were not allowed to try to get ice in the closed buffet area- so one ice machine at the bar for the whole resort. The beach bar had great French fries, burgers and hot dogs. Securing towels for the beach was also a game. Frequently, there were no towels available. Strangely, the pool closed each day at 6:00, so there was no option for a cool swim in the evening when the air was stagnant and the common areas had no a/c. The entertainment staff put a lot of work into their shows only to perform them in an open air hot stage area with plastic outdoor chairs for the audience. The whole experience gave me summer camp vibes with sweet adult beverages available. Wyndham, I trusted your brand and was disappointed. The beach front is amazing, the employees work hard but, the resort needs a complete overhaul. It would not take much to make this a destination. If it matched the description and pictures online, I would visit every year. Unfortunately this was not the case.
