  Riu

  Only problem with the water. One day almost no water from 10am to 8pm. The 2nd day no water for 4 hrs

  Good for what you pay for

  Hotel RIU Republica is exactly what you pay for. Pools and swim up bars are great, beach was beautiful and just steps away from main pools, lots of activities to do throughout the stay. Rooms are OK. Went with friends and we all had separate rooms, which were nice enough, but all rooms had an overwhelming musty smell that lingered the whole time and just some areas looked like they could use some maintenance. Plenty of food options, the buffets also did what they needed- nice varieties of food and not as bad as some say for an all inclusive resort. Overall, would recommend for short stays where you need a getaway.

  The only good thing about it was the flights

  This hotel is absolutely terrible, we've been to other riu resorts, but this one needs a total refurbishment, the pools are disgusting the entertainment was atrocious the food never changed from breakfast, lunch and dinner always them same food. While there there was no water in the complex for a whole day, was never given an explanation as to why, none of the toilets were working so there was a backup of mess, and the staff were always begging for tips

  Awful

  We were 3 70 year old ladies. The pools were great - although the main swim bar pool water was murky. We spent 12 hours one day 10 am - 10 pm with no water. You had to fill up the tank of the toilet with water to flush toilet. Air condiitioning was barely working during this time. One day our room wasn't cleaned - no clean towels because the shower didn't drain properly and the water was everywhere. We went to the front desk to report no cleaning - they finally came by 3 hours later and handed us towels - we said we wanted the room cleaned - they said tomorrow - we said today and they reluctantly cleaned the room. I had a medical emergency and had to be taken to the hospital - the inhouse doctor was great - a plus. When I was returned to the hotel - in a cab - the driver kept saying $20 - I had no money and had to ask a stranger for $20 - she was wonderful and paid the cab bill. I asked for a wheelchair and a bellman came over and had me sit in a wheel chair - he just left me there. I finally recognized 3 ladies who we sat with the previous day at the pool - they got in touch with my friends and came and helped me. The food was subpar - my best meal of the whole trip - was a Wendy's Burger at the airport for $15.00 If you are a 20 year old single person - it would be fine - but not for anyone over 40. I had people from Canada tell me the temp in their room was 85 degrees.

  The absolute worst vacation experience in my life

  Sent 25 emails to Customer Service, Complaints, RIU corporate and reception desk and countless app messages about my issues during my seven night stay at RIU Republica. 1st room 1. I spent four nights of 80 degree temperature at night in the room. 2. Water leaking all over the hallway floor from the air conditioning. 3. Water was out for 10 plus hours on Sunday, May 17. 4. My wife got so frustrated that she got another room at a nearby resort for $350 per night. 5. Elevators are not working to get to my 3rd floor room. 6. Can’t change rooms until 2pm. Then have to pack up my luggage and move to another room when available. 7. 8-10 cats running around the property. If it is the standard let us know ahead of time. 8. Gym had rusty out dated equipment Moved to another room 2nd room 1. Toilet did not flush or work 2. No hand soap in the bathroom 3. No soap in the shower 4. No towels 5. Sink pipes leaking water all over the bathroom floor 6. Shower drains very slowly leaving 2-3 inches of water while taking a shower 7. No hot water for two hours on Tuesday May 19. 8. Went to the front desk and asked about the toilet issues. I went to the front desk to let them know that my toilet was not working last night at 10pm. The front desk person said the she was going to send someone right away. Maintenance never came I had diarrhea all night. Each time that I went to the bathroom, (Five separate occasions) I had to fill the ice bucket with water three times, put the water in a trash can, and pour the water down the toilet to get the waste to drain. (Did all of this while I was sick) It seems that the front desk may have given me a flagged room that had previous issues. RIU has to do better with customer service. Hope to talk to a manager at 9am this morning to discuss all of my issues from the past seven days. Like to have the names of the managers on duty and the supervisors names to write each personally about my stay.
