Anniversary Vacation
Anniversary Vacation. Was very nice to have it acknowledged by PBC. Resort is absolutely beautiful and well laid out. So easy to navigate. The cats are so cute, bring treats, they love them. The turtles, awesome! Beach simply spectacular! Of course the rude towel people were out of control every single day! Our waterfront room was fabulous! Roomy, comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Massive balcony for relaxing. Orchid was a huge disappointment! 100$ U.S. extra. My husband's " dry aged " steak was 2 thin peices of some kind of meat stacked on top of each other! My rack of lamb was extremely salty and way overcooked. The Italian restaurant was ok. Best dish the blue cheese gnocchi. But our server was horrible! She has no place in customer service. By far the worst staff member we encountered. The Pineapple Grille snapper and steak both good but my veggies completely raw. The Cafe and snack bar both good! The fresh fruit cups were very enjoyable. The Buffet was a regular resort buffet. Plenty to choose from at each meal. Asian was our least favorite. The Outhouse was an experience with stunning views. The bbq was sadly way overcooked. The chef! Grumpy to the max! By far our best meal of the week was the random open fire bbq they brought to the beach where they grilled fresh, whole Mahi Mahi and simply served it with grilled garlic bread. Absolutely delicious! I will say the wine for a resort was very good. If you are any kind of foodie, I'd say pass on this resort. Definately an older crowd too. I will end by saying the staff really need to check themselves. 90% a very miserable bunch. Only exception is Joel the bartender! He is 100% a 5 star employee! He should teaching the rest how it's done! Wonderful man. Be like Joel!

The best vacation!!
Hands down the best vacation I have ever taken. From the time we landed to all the service we received along with the entertainment, I can’t stop telling people to go and see it for themselves. Tyrain was one of the staff members that stood out as he was always happy and knew how to keep your day fun and exciting!! We will return for sure!!

The good and bad
The location of pbc is a lovely compact hotel great beach beautiful clear blue waters and the floaties in the sea just brilliant, the pools very nice with lots of sunbeds, just a problem with towels they are sometimes there by 8am and then other days they don’t get there by 10am and they are soon gone so if you are a early bird take one back with you in the afternoon to use first thing.. we had a sea view room 721 which was spacious, bed very comfortable lots of hangers and storage space. So that’s the good stuff now for the not so good. We found that some of the staff were quite miserable and rude in the main bar, but the drinks were good. The food,we ate at all the restaurants on site so starting with topaz main buffet this was a bit hit and miss breakfast was constantly good with lots of variety but we did have days where there was no butter!! And don’t bother asking for some cause chef says no!! Lunch service was reasonable we loved the fresh nachos on our first week but the last few days they weren’t available which was quite disappointing the staff in here we thought were the best. Dinner now this is where they let themselves down a menu is put up but if your not eating by 7pm things have run out or isn’t available in the first place if you ask if there is anymore you aren’t greeted with a great response so overall disappointing. Pineapple grill staff very unfriendly like everything was too much trouble and the food was average at best I had booked this restaurant twice but after first experience I really didn’t want to go back so cancelled for the second evening. Chef petros our waitress in here was fabulous just a shame that the food didn’t come up to expectations…snack bar the pizzas were lovely and everything is cooked to order through the day I didn’t have anything from there but my husband and our friends enjoyed it…last but not least the orchid this is the restaurant with $50 per person surcharge we enjoyed the food in here I had breaded Brie and rack of lamb the lamb was cooked lovely but again the staff were not very friendly and they don’t deliver we asked for a side salad to go with the T bone it didn’t arrive when we asked about it we got a shoulder shrug and the response of my bad didn’t order it… coffee shop…lovely coffee and predominantly great service but on frequent occasions no vanilla ice cream…Would I go back for the beach and setting yes but for service and food no. In my opinion it has the makings of being a fabulous hotel just food standards and staffing need to be addressed.

Good relaxing, if sometimes noisy, All Inclusive hotel
Fantastic first impression. Modern hotel. Extensive, well landscaped and tended gardens. Waterfront room newly built/refurbished two storey block. We were ground floor. Large comfortable bed. Modern bathroom with walk in shower. Perhaps, because ground floor, everything became damp – getting back to the room after a day’s beach activity meant you had to drape outside any clothes you wanted to wear in the evening. All the staff were polite, happy and smiling always willing to help. The main restaurant is the Topaz – breakfast, lunch and dinner, all buffet style: Breakfast, probably the best meal of the day in terms of choice – eggs, anyway you wanted them cooked, waffles, pancakes, fruit, meats. pork sausages, turkey sausages, crispy bacon, toast, bagels, smoothies to order Lunch – again a good selection cooked fish, meats and vegetables. Salads, nachos guacamole, soured cream and salsa Dinner - all the above and usually a carvery section, including Yorkshire puddingss for Sunday roast. All meals had fair vegetarian options. On one occasion I had a delicious chickpea curry wrapped in a soft tortilla and I’m not veggie. There were 3 specialty restaurants – Pineapple Grill and an Italian included and one fine dining restaurant which you have to pay extra for. We dined in the Pineapple Grill, which was OK. For lunch/snacks there is the Pelican Grill open 11:00 – 23:00 burgers, hot dogs fries etc.. There is also The Outpost for lunch, which is a climb above and within the resort offering fantastic views There is a BBQ on the beach, Friday when we were there – usual BBQ fare. They also held a street party on the second Friday we were there which looked fantastic (this was when we ate at the Pineapple Grill, thinking it was going to be another BBQ!) A lot of trouble had been taken with night lights, the ways the stalls were set out, etc. There are various areas to sunbathe – Sunbeds very easy to find either around the two main pools. On a raised area above the beach and the beach itself. It is very easy gentle access to the sea from the lovely clean sandy beach. The beach/sea can sometimes have very large amounts of seaweed. The raised beach area had notices suggesting no mobiles – completely ignored by the people who think they run the world! (or want to shout down the mobile what a fantastic time they’re having to the ‘unfortunate’ people back home) There is a quiet area – The Tickled Trout pool and bar between reception and the main entertainment area – small, perhaps room for a dozen or so sunbeds, so I suggest you claim these early. Sunbeds were reserved early (and not a German in sight!) I went running on the beach a few times around 06:00 and there were a number already reserved! There are plenty to go round, so all a bit pointless. Entertainment in the evening is limited. Usual singers and Bob Marley numbers every night. After 18:30 there is only the main bar open, so it gets busy, however service is good with servers able to manage to complete 2 or 3 orders at a time! I would suggest on our visit guests were made up 40% American 40% Canadian and 20% British. Would we go back? Possibly, if 40% of the other guests didn’t!

Cute and Comfortable Pineapple Beach Club
Pineapple Beach Club is a small, clean, unpretentious, traditional Caribbean resort. We enjoyed our laid back 1 week stay here in a Beachfront room courtesy of WestJet vacations. This was our first time in Antigua. On arrival, we were met with a cool glass of rum punch, an informative and pleasant check in, and a quick ride in the golf cart by Clinton to our beautiful and comfortable room. We did have an issue with our room key not working, which was quickly fixed at reception. ROOM: Beachfront, upper floor, room 112. Room had been recently refreshed- and although the craftsmanship could have been much better- it was clean, comfortable, functional and bright, with a view to die for and superb hot water and pressure. Outfitted with a king size bed, large dresser, two sitting chairs and table, phone, safe, mini fridge, moderate sized closet, and a bathroom with large walk in shower. Being on the upper floor, the balcony space is not private, as it is located in front of your door, and is accessed by public walkway (just something to note). Balcony came complete with a 2-seater couch and a lovely view. One small suggestion would be to reassess the bedding- it consisted of a sheet, and a very thin comforter covered in another sheet. I requested a blanket and was told they don't have them. 1 fleece blanket would have made sleeping much more comfortable. Even with the fans off, and the air conditioner low, I slept most nights in my sweater that I had worn to the airport from home.... FOOD/DRINKS: Buffet breakfasts and lunch were enjoyed, with a small but good variety of food- although no variation through the week. Lunch at the Outhouse was delicious, fast, and accompanied with a lovely view of the beach and coastline. Dinner buffet was themed throughout the week. We were always able to find something we enjoyed, but I would not say it was spectacular. We dined at the Italian a la carte, Chef Pietros, and Pineapple Grill, the Caribbean themed restaurant. Both had lovely and interesting menus, accompanied with great food. The Lamb Roti and Oxtail Ravioli was the highlight of my week. Snack bar had lots of great quick options, cooked well....the cafe was open 24 hours which was amazing for someone who needs their coffee like I do. They also had a selection of grab n go sandwiches, pastries, and cakes. The cafe is where all the resort kitties like to hang out. They were sweet, well taken care of and fed, and genuinely liked people. They weren't bothersome, but were open to affection from guests. The staff were very protective of them, which made my heart swell. I do feel the quality and temperature of hot foods could be improved- most days the hot foods at the buffet were lukewarm. Drink service was fast, and cocktails were superb. Premium alcohol was not really available, so if that's what you're looking for, this is not the place. Drinks were, however, unpretentious, cold, and made with lots of love by the bartenders. The drink of the day was always a fun surprise. HOUSEKEEPING: No complaints here. Housekeeping was always completed by noon (which is almost unheard of anywhere else....) and we were never missing a thing. Room was always clean and fresh. SERVICE: Most staff we encountered were exceptional. Friendly, smiling, always greeting you when walking by, and making an effort to chat with you. I would love to highlight some of the staff who took our stay from great to exceptional: Solange, Annetta at the cafe, Clinton, Nicole, Patryce, Shakeera, Clovis, Annika & Aijah from Guest Services, Kai, Shareef, Joel & Maritza the bartenders, Ardon, Judith, Tricia, Kady-Ann, Randolph and Shareef & Rho Rho- the fun coordinators! I was vastly impressed with how well-oiled their service operation was. Water glasses always full, tables always clean, coffees hot and ready at breakfast. We never waited longer than a few minutes- and if we did- it was met with a sincere apology. They truly care about their guests enjoyment, and it was noticeable. ENTERTAINMENT: While their tagline claims "the most laid back all inclusive resort in the Caribbean", something was always happening everyday. From power walks, to off resort trips, jewellery making, Bocce ball, karaoke. Great fun for all age groups- albeit suited for an older crowd. All entertainment ceased by 11pm, which was great for those searching for a quieter and laid back environment. We had lots of fun dancing with other guests and socializing at the night time events. Carnival nights every 2nd Friday made for good fun and laughs all around. I even won a bottle of champagne. Nice touch. POOLS/BEACH: 4 pools plus a stretch of long white sand beach with turquoise water. Can't go wrong. Pools were well maintained with lots of chair and plenty of shade options. Beach towels were a bit hard to come by at times, but if you took 2 early in the morning and stashed them in your room for the next day, you wouldn't have an issue. Towels were clean and in good repair. TOURS/EXCURSIONS: We booked Stingray City through Marvin and G-Man on the beach. Typically, I would never have done this, but he came very highly recommended by many regulars here. We had a wonderful trip, exactly as advertised, that was fun and safe. It was the highlight of our trip. Special thanks to G-Man, Captain Scooby and Kenya. OVERALL IMPRESSIONS: If you're looking for a laid back resort with a smaller footprint, and a gorgeous beach- this is the place. While it does appeal to a crowd that i would guess is 55+, as a younger couple, we had a fantastic time. We loved the resort cats, and the Turtle Sanctuary on the grounds. The general resort was clean, in good repair, traditional in style, and provided plenty of spaces to relax, enjoy the quiet or participate in activities and dancing. We were pleasantly surprised to meet so many friendly faces, both staff and other guests. The atmosphere was just right for a romantic vacation as well as a friends or family trip. We hope to return again soon.
