  Great Place to Stay!

  Booked through Costco package (hotel, air, car rental) and it included the daily air conditioning (definitely needed) and cleaning fee. Reserved 2 bed 2 bath room Fairway view. Our unit was extremely spacious with plenty of room. It was too hot for us to use patio but it was very nice. Had a lot of small appliances and plenty of dish/glassware. Having washer/dryer easily available was great. Our flight came in after 5pm. Upon arrival, was able to call security from main gate, who got us in, provided us our key, and showed us where to park. Went to front desk next morning at 8 to sign in officially, get parking info/gate card, and info about our stay. Super easy! Since it was just for hubby and I, we still got the 2bed/2bath so that we had an extra bath… definitely a good option to have two bathrooms. Master bedroom was very spacious; had king bed, large walk-in closet and great sized bathroom/shower. Extra bedroom had two twins. Unit was very decorated and furnished, and looks great. The tennis court and 3 pickleball courts looked recently updated - didn’t realize you can borrow equipment until end of trip, so definitely ask (front desk) if interested. The main pool by ocean was rarely used but we would go in the early evening; a little bit on smaller side but nice to relax in. Was actually not too cold (late July), possibly due to the super hot days. The other two pools are on either sides of the tennis/pickleball courts. There are also BBQ grills to use (1st come 1st served). Outrigger Kona hotel (nearby), hosts a food truck Mondays, and craft fair on Tuesday and Fridays. Small but nice to check out. We didn’t have any issues at all. Quiet and peaceful, and great for families. No noise issues with anyone else (#502 is bottom level).

  Kanaloa at Kona - a great place

  We stayed in unit 3202 at Kanaloa at Kona for 9 days. We were very pleased with the unit and its amenities. It is a very roomy 2 bedroom condo facing the ocean, fronting on a calm inlet, with covered parking very convenient nearby. We could watch the crewing boats every morning, and lots of other watercraft. The unit itself was great - not only clean but well stocked with the little stuff that you need - bar soap, dw soap, laundry soap, filtered water, binoculars, a vacuum, tissues, dishes and silverware, table and chairs on the balcony plus two lounge chairs, plenty of towels and so many other minor things that made our stay comfortable. The complex has three swimming pools - never crowded. Only two complaints: the wifi was very slow and sporadic/unreliable, and the bed in the master bedroom had a very deep mattress that made it impossible for me (5'2") to climb into bed without a step or stool (I couldn't find one in the unit). I had to sleep in the second bedroom since the beds were normal height from the ground. But otherwise a great place to relax. Also - convenient location for drives to see the north/west coast and beaches, Hilo and the volcanos. Nice shopping center a mile away for groceries and eateries.

  Great location

  This is a great accommodation based on unit we were given. We went with another couple whose unit looked entirely different than ours. Location is great it is gated, many pools to use and hot tubs, a great place for sunset. A lot of dining and shopping options within a short drive, there is not any beachfront, it’s all lava rock. There is no dining or bar on property. I would definitely book again

  Oh dear beautiful view but a hit or miss on the units.

  All the reviews are true - unit and location The units will vary all so don't think you got a deal when it is cheap. The location is definitely very beautiful. The staff in general good to ok and try to assist whenever possible. This is our second time staying here. We always book Oceanfront not Oceanview. Last year booked through Vrbo and dealt directly with the owner. She is amazing and has a beautiful unit. The price does reflect the view and unit on the upper end but worth it to us if you can afford it. This stay we booked another Oceanfront next to hers. In Oct 2024, we booked through Expedia, called next day and got letter confirming the unit that we knew was good. When we check in this last week, we were given another unit Oceanview. We paid for Oceanfront. They told us doesn't matter that we had confirmation in writing for the Oceanfront since we booked through Expedia. We choose Ocenfront to enjoy watching dolphins and whales. We were told it will be extra $300 we said fine. Then we were told the resort is full. We don't think this is right especially when we got confirmation what we want. We called Expedia and didn't get anything resolution other than a $50 credit. After five days the resort called us and gave us an Oceanfront unit due to cancellation. It was definitely nice of them to do the right thing but we lost five days staying in the other unit Oceanview which was nice. Either way this is a nice location but book at your own peril. Yes there are plenty of insects, ants and roaches but this is their home. They do try to keep them out of the units.

  Don't book through priceline.com

  The resort is beautiful, staff and facilities are wonderful. They changed me an additional $359.78 for cleaning and maintenance that PRICELINE.COM did not disclose in my booking. I spent hours on hold and finally was told by a Priceline representative that Priceline was at fault and I would get a refund, on Monday 6/16/2025 I called again for the 7th time and was passed around and hung up on until I was finally told they wouldn't refund the fee. I recommend the facility but expect a large cleaning fee and several other add ons.
