  Fantastic time at another Iberostar

  We have spent a family holiday for 10 days from the 20th August 2026 We had a beautiful family room with interconnecting rooms having 2 adult children. Great location overlooking the garden and short walks to pool and restaurants The Dominicana is joined with 5 others but the place is spread out so doesn’t feel that crowded at all Soap and shampoo provided if needed. Hairdryer and ironing board too! Buy some wardrobe dehumidifier bags to hang in the wardrobe as humidity is really high. We were very lucky with the weather and although it was hurricane season it rained in the night only so never spoiled our holiday. Towels were changed daily if needed and bedding also changed a couple of times in the week I think. There is a mini fridge that gets actually refilled for free and two big glass bottles so You can refill water at the fountain (water is triple filtered there - you should not drink tap water) Cleaning lady was amazing. A big shout to Defina who was always very accommodating when my son wouldn’t get out of bed and leave the room when needed. She was like the perfect person who understands struggles with that kind of age so she would leave our room for later. Absolutely loved her and if the hotel is reading this please give her a token of appreciation for her hard work. We never had problems finding sunbeds in the pool but make sure you get there at least by 9am if you want a good spot. Although there is a sign saying reserving beds is not allowed there were some people who did it and nobody did anything about it. So maybe something for the hotel to look at. Not many Brits mostly Spanish speaking and we were told they come from Argentina and Chile, and some from the US Clean surroundings and lovely pool although be aware water gets deep quickly in many areas if you are a short person. Gardens look very beautiful and well looked after. Some airons, ducks and pelicans, I spotted a Hispaniola woodpecker very beautiful with a red head and the body which is camouflaged with the palm tree Day activities are ok (we are not joiners though so did not affect us). My daughter missed the usual big team of entertainers we found in other hotels at the pool who normally dance a song at the end of their activities like aqua fun with a routine Aqua gym was enjoyable for me! Maria the lady who walks around the pool taking drinks orders is a pleasure to watch shouting if you are ok and that she loves you. Really lovely lady! Food is ok, normal for an All Inclusive but I don’t go on holiday for food or expecting to find what I eat at home 🤣 loved the breakfast! Hubby got sick whilst there towards the end and I was when back. Could be anything, the heat or anything else so I don’t know for sure. Be careful as sometimes flies could land on cold food. That happens everywhere. We chose an excursion booked through the hotel to go to scape park which was good. Be prepared for the driving though… they drive like F1 and speed limits are optional. It was a relief to be back to the hotel safe The lady who booked the excursion at the hotel advised to bring water shoes and padlock. You can buy a padlock for $5 at the park (bring anti repellent because you need it or buy a tiny bottle at the park for $7) and they also sell water shoes there for $25. We ended up going to Worldmart the day before with transfer organised by the hotel 5 minutes away and we found shoes for $27. We were looking for souvenirs but not worthy there as we found them a bit tacky. You are better off buying them in the Caribe shops at the back of the Dominicana where the diving centre was or near the pharmacy. Much nicer! Going to Worldmart is free transfer with the hotel but you still pay for 2 driver tips so you end up paying more money for the items We bought some lunch at a cafe in the Scape park and prices were very reasonable I have to say.. if you do the super zip wire buy the video for $40 if you can. Best thing ever! We also went on a short snorkelling catamaran trip, complimentary voucher as we attended a group talk to sell us Iberostar membership. They tell you it’s 1 hour for breakfast at the Coral resort and half an hour talk where they do marketing trying to sell you this membership. It is not like timeshare but nevertheless it was not for us not just financially but because we like changing and trying new places all the time. We did not use the beach as it was sargassum season (first time we came here to the Iberostar was 25 years ago and we did not have this problem) Entertainment was ok but in Spanish. Did not really watch much also because we are early birds and the show doesn’t start until 930. Too late for us! Maybe 9 would be better? Most of the staff in the restaurants don’t really speak English Anyway overall a very nice holiday and we love the Iberostar chain as we know what we are getting. Download the app whilst you are there you will find out when your room gets cleaned and can see daily activities WiFi is great throughout the resort Lots of restaurants to choose, we tried the Asian (you need to prebook) but were disappointed as not very tasty. Whilst I was there my brand new dress was made dirty as a waiter dropped a plate with food which ended up on my dress The hotel cleaned it for me by the day after. Impeccable service! All staff is smiley and kind and hardworking so make sure you bring plenty of small notes to tip. We changed some money in pesos but you don’t need it. Just bring $ and will be fine Last thing don’t forget plenty of suncream. The sun is incredibly strong even for me with mediterranean origins and the local market in the lobby is awfully expensive. An idea of prices… they sell water shoes for $50 compared to $25 outside the hotel.

  Terrible Stay

  First time out of country for my family and I and the stay here was terrible. First 2 nights a/c stopped working and they kept claiming they fixed it. Finally requested new room on 3rd day and fixed it permanently. Pool does not stay open after 7pm for any day of the week which was horrible for my children and my son’s 14u baseball team. For some restaurants you were required to make reservations but each time we did they were either booked 2 or 3 days out. Then, after all the issues we had I reached out to Iberostar to see if they would allow me to collect my points through IHG and I was told NO because we went through a 3rd party. We went as a family for my son’s 14u baseball team and it was a stay to play. Other parents were able to get their points while they were at the resort and again I was told NO. Please don’t waste your time or money staying at this resort.

  Not worth the money.

  Staff is friendly. Drink choices are limited to DR drinks. Dinners are good/great. Lunch at times is gross by the beach if you go near closing times. Options are limited. Problems with the rooms. Exposed electrical and the resort needs a renovation. Not worth the value.

  Nice holiday

  Food is ok plenty of choice looks very pretty just not the hottest. Great gluten free selection. Maria drinking winkie i love you... greatest happiest person ever. She will bring your drinks to you when at the pool. Bar staff in the entertainment are awesome again happy and dancing Other bar staff not so happy in fact some were downright miserable Few english speaking there and entertainment was mainly in Spanish but was still ok circus night was fab Pools were great first few days but became dirty with a scum build up. Rooms dated but clean... our cleaner was so nice They will try to sell you vip status but we didn't want it Overall a lovely place to spend a week doing nothing in the sun

  Excellent service!

  We had an amazing stay as a couple. Alex from the Club Concierge team was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive from the moment we arrived. He made us feel special and was always happy to help with anything we needed. His outstanding service truly made our vacation even more enjoyable. Thank you, Alex!
