Hotel was okay. For the price, I would have expected more. Room was clean, but walls are pretty thin so we could hear just the normal conversations of our neighbors. Bath tub had rust in it and the toilet paper holder was installed totally crooked. The hotel just feels a little old even though they have updated it cosmetically. Like I said, it was fine, but for the price, I would expect more.

Such a beautiful hotel and space to enjoy a nice little getaway. They had even more beautiful customer service. Really impressed by the friendliness, helpfulness and overall hospitality. Phillip is a gift and we wouldn’t have had the best experience without his help. Celebrated my toddlers birthday and a last summer getaway with my girls and mom and this was the perfect spot to do so. The best part was everything you needed was accessible without walking too far. The restaurants and the convenience store on site also had such friendly and helpful staff. The shuttle to SeaWorld and back was the cherry on top, made it easy to travel with my toddler. The pools…yes pools…3 of them were also a favorite! I had to try the slides and I am so glad I did. Thank you Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina, I will be booking again.

Sep 04, 2026Disappointing Stay – Property Needs Significant Attention
Unfortunately, our stay fell well below what we expected from a Hyatt Regency. Our room had a noticeable musty/mildew smell, and the bathtub was peeling and clearly in need of maintenance. The property also showed signs of poor upkeep, including an elevator with a missing button. The main entrance door to the suites was routinely left open, which was concerning from a security standpoint. The pool experience was particularly disappointing. The pool area was extremely overcrowded, and on one day two pools were closed due to cleanliness issues. One of them was the pool with the waterslide, which was one of the main reasons we chose this property for our child. Parking was another frustration. The hotel charges $55 per day, yet the lot was frequently full because it is also open to non-hotel guests. At that price, hotel guests should reasonably expect reliable access to parking. Overall, between the room condition, pool closures and overcrowding, parking situation, security concern, and general maintenance issues, the experience did not meet the standard I associate with Hyatt Regency. The property has a lot of potential, close to Sea World and especially for families, but it needs considerably more attention to cleanliness, maintenance, and the guest experience.

An Exceptional Stay at Hyatt Mission Bay — Beautiful Views, Incredible People
The Hyatt Mission Bay is a truly special place. The beautiful waterfront views are breathtaking, the atmosphere is relaxing and inviting, and the entire property feels like the perfect escape. But as wonderful as the hotel itself is, what makes this place truly exceptional is the people who work there. From the moment you arrive, you can feel how genuinely welcoming and attentive the staff are. Every single person we encountered was lovely, helpful, warm, and genuinely committed to making the experience outstanding. It’s rare to stay somewhere where the service feels so consistently personal and sincere. A very special thank-you to Jake and Joe, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Their kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail truly stood out. They are a wonderful reflection of what hospitality should be, and their efforts made us feel genuinely valued and cared for. And then there’s the view — absolutely beautiful. Waking up and looking out over Mission Bay is something you don’t quickly forget. The setting alone makes this hotel worth visiting, but the exceptional people are what will make us want to come back. We also had the pleasure of dining at Red Marlin, and the food was delicious. It was the perfect complement to the beautiful surroundings and wonderful service. Everything came together to create an experience that felt special from beginning to end. If you’re looking for a beautiful place to stay with incredible views, delicious food, and, most importantly, people who genuinely care about their guests, Hyatt Mission Bay is an easy recommendation.

Unfortunate experience during anniversary
We visited SD for our 9th anniversary. We had booked a suite on the Marina side but the room has numerous issues - Marina view was blocked by a boathouse - Room was dated with the ceiling peeling off in a couple of places - Room Carpet was old and smelly - Bathroom didnt have exhaust fan - The suite are on the side from the main hotel and appear very old and in need of repairs. The elevator had missing buttons. Overall building is in bad need of upgrades
