Disappointed. Would not stay here again.

I was expecting the property to be a little dated but it was far worse. It is extremely dated and run down. The water park lacks any upkeep. Broken tiles, chipping everything, the foliage was dead or dying. The staff was the least friendly I have encountered. No towels, no pool service, the food was terrible. It should not be advertised as a resort or water park. Very disappointing. Would not stay here again.

    Disappointing Hilton Resort Experience

We just got back from a long weekend at this Hilton and honestly? Pretty disappointed. As a Diamond member who travels a lot with my husband (empty nesters living our best life), I have high expectations and this place just didn’t deliver. First, some context: we specifically planned this trip as a chill, do-nothing resort weekend. No sightseeing, just pool days and relaxing. The lazy river photos sold us. So when we checked in at 6 PM and were told the lazy river was already closed for the day… not a great start. Our room was actually nice, no real complaints there, just a weirdly designed mini fridge where nothing fits upright. Fine, whatever. The bigger issue was everything outside the room. The resort is seriously lacking in open amenities right now. There’s one small pool that was packed with kids, next to a restaurant that’s been closed for a while. The only dining option for the entire resort was a lobby bar where hundreds of guests plus a full dance competition from the conference center was vying for the limited tables and a limited menu. The staff were visibly overwhelmed and doing their best, but it was chaos. Day two we tried the waterpark area. It’s across the parking lot, which already kills the resort vibe. The restaurant inside? Closed. One tiny snack stand with a massive line. Waitstaff came around occasionally but not enough to make it feel like a relaxing pool day. We ended up leaving the property for every single meal because there just weren’t real options on-site. (Apparently a new restaurant is under construction but why close the other two before it’s open?!) Day three we found the adults-only pool… also across the parking lot… in a shopping center. No food or drinks available there at all. The hot tub wasn’t even heated. We got in just to say we did it and left. The spa and steam shower were genuinely lovely, and the mountain setting is gorgeous. But Hilton, come on. How is a resort of this size operating with almost no food options and half the amenities closed? The silver lining is that it pushed us to actually explore Phoenix, which turned out great. But that’s not what we came for, and I really wish we’d stayed somewhere else.

    Bittersweet

I’m in town for training. Honestly, I thought I booked the property off 7th Street but it was here. I used to live in Phoenix but never recalled this property, so this was new to me. I’m a Hilton Honors Member, so I’m always optimistic concerning my stay. First the good. I checked in and was fortunate to meet Dani. Dani, was cordial, engaging, professional, and friendly. I like those qualities. She made my check in experience delightful and pleasing. I love the information and how it was presented. Later, I wanted a drink after a long travel day to relax. I had played on one but had three and an appetizer based on the engagement with Victoria. She was excellent. Polite, engaging, interpersonal, and caring. You can tell she was genuine and not pretentious. I later conveyed this to her boss, Stella, who you can tell had been doing this line of work for a while. Not that she is old but rather, she was in tuned with what guest need and like. She was also not surprised by my thoughts on Victoria, who is her employee but Dani too. I went from looking to spend $12.00 to $59.00. It was a great visit. Now the other side. When I arrived at my room, I thought I was at the wrong room because I couldn’t open the door. The light turned green but I couldn’t open the door. I literally had to put my shoulder into the door to open it. The health risk is that it wouldn’t close and lock either. I reported this to another person at the front desk, who didn’t seem empathetic to my concern. I also shared how the remote to the television didn’t work and he told me internal matters that didn’t concern me. Lastly, for for very nice room, the bathroom floor was dirty with hair and other stains (see below). This is problematic to me because I once did housekeeping and took pride in what I did. This was a glaring problem if someone paid attention. I have noticed that post-COVID, Hilton properties have unfortunately lacked in this area. They still have wonderful beds but housekeeping is an area for improvement.

Misleading Photos, Poor Cleanliness, and a Stay We Had to Cut Short

We recently stayed at the Hilton Phoenix Resort at the Peak and, honestly, it was a really disappointing experience from start to finish. The biggest issue is that what you see online is not what you get in person. The photos make the place look updated, clean, and like a fun resort with nice pools and modern amenities. In reality, that just isn’t the case. The only part of the property that actually felt updated was the lobby, which looked good and gave us hope when we first arrived. Unfortunately, it went downhill pretty quickly from there. When we got to our room, it was clear right away that it hadn’t been properly cleaned. There was dust everywhere, and the whole space just felt dirty. The carpet and couch both had visible stains, and the furniture was really worn out—way past the point of just being “dated.” It felt more like neglect than age. There were even holes in the exterior walls, which was surprising and honestly a little concerning. Things got worse when we started noticing actual sanitation issues. We found a roach in the bathroom, which is just unacceptable. On top of that, the lazy river area—one of the main reasons we booked this place—was in terrible condition. There was human feces on the tubes people are supposed to use in the water. That’s not just gross, it’s a serious health concern and should never happen at any property, let alone a resort. At that point, we didn’t feel comfortable staying. We ended up leaving early and booking another hotel at our own expense, which was a much better experience and actually lived up to expectations. Overall, this place looks good online, but it’s very misleading. Outside of the lobby, the property feels run down, poorly maintained, and not properly cleaned. Unless major improvements are made, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
