The views front the room are great. The service was good. My only issue which is dangerous was when you step down from the curb in front of the hotel you have to be careful. It looks like there isn't a step because the curb and right under is same color . No clear strip or it hard to tell. I missed and face planted. Left with very bruised up knees and chest.

Great place! It’s older, but well taken care of and clean! The restaurant onsite is really good. We had an awesome breakfast and dinner while there.

I normally don't review hotels since as long as they are clean, they are pretty much all the same. However, you need to be aware not to stay there. The staff was friendly and it is close to the airport, but that's about it. There were many issues with our room (715). The door to the cabinet where the fridge was broken and almost coming off. The bathroom was dark, probably to hide the mold in the shower and rust on the curtain rod. Additionally, it appears that there was a leak from above in the shower and there was a gap in the ceiling where the sheetrock meets the wall of about an inch. Finally, the towel hook was coming off the wall and hanging crookedly. The next morning, I mentioned it to someone at the front desk and all she did was apologize, even after showing her the pictures I took of the issues. Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted that picture. of the ceiling, but uploaded the rest. This is an old, dated hotel that not only needs an upgrade, but the staff needs to pay more attention to the maintenance issues. We have to stay there one more night on our way home, and are not looking forward to it.

Do not recommend. Staff don’t appear to want to be here. Facilities are very tired. Overpriced for the service and facilities.

A gorgeous structure, a beautiful, unique location, deserves a remodel and re-staffing .
The Hilo Hawaiian hotel is in a spectacular setting and housed in a beautiful building but staffed by a crew that is not consistently hospitable. We met staff who were wonderful and we met staff who told us things like “you must leave the premises after you check out”, “here’s your bill. I’ll be happy to take it anytime you want” at 9:20 when we weren’t finished drinking in their bar that closes at 10. Moreover, the rooms are badly in need of upgrading as is the hotel entirely crying for a good remodel.
