May 23, 2026A Beautiful Resort
We just returned from a seven-night stay at El Dorado Seaside Suites. There is a lot to like about this resort. We chose the Seaside Suites vrs the Palms due to the fact that each room is a swim out suite. While this was a very unique amenity, and we did utilize the feature, if we return we will stay at El Dorado Palms as it is closer to the Pools that we preferred. (There are four pools on the grounds that the two El Dorado resorts share). The grounds of the resorts are absolutely beautiful. The palm trees are mature and plentiful. We frequently stopped during our walks to simply enjoy the flora. During our walks we frequently spotted coatis and racoons. The walk from our room to the lobby and the Seaside Market (Buffet dining) was ½ of a mile. If walking isn’t your thing, shuttles are readily available at no charge to transport you to and from different locations (restaurants, lobbies, pools, or your room) Food and drink were typical of an All-Inclusive in Mexcio. We had no problems making reservations at the three restaurants that required reservations. Our seven-night stay allowed us to take advantage of three complementary excursions. A full day at El Dorado Marona Beach which included: food, drink, and an hour tour on a catamaran with a snorkel stop, a trip to Aktun Chen which included a cave tour with an underground cenote, along with an opportunity to swim in a second cenote. This was the excursion that I really enjoyed. The third trip was a bus ride to Playa Del Carmen for 2.5 hours of shopping, with stops at a jewelry outlet and an opportunity for tequilas tasting prior to reaching Playa Del Carmen. Staff was great. House Cleaning did an excellent job, and our minifridge was restocked daily. Loved the rainforest shower head. The only negative pertaining to this resort is the large amount of sargassum seaweed that is accumulating on the shore. Before booking the resort, I knew that the beach was small at the resort but I was looking forward to snorkeling. Due to the amount of seaweed, I decided not to snorkel at the resort. The sargassum issue is not limited to Seaside resort but is affecting many parts of Mexico and the Caribbean. Do a Google search before booking if you are a person who wants to spend time in the ocean. We will consider returning to El Dorado but probably at a different type of year to lessen the probability of the seaweed issue.

Beautiful hotel complex, with good, clean rooms with a comfy bed, a jacuzzi and packed fridge included. Great variety of restaurants and bars that are spaced out, there is regular transport available by golf trolley and the drivers are very helpful when finding your way around. The pools are nice with plenty of beds. The Bali beds on the beach and pool areas are wonderful and very comfy. On the down side the beach is lovely but can be covered by seaweed. Signage needs improving so that you can find the location of things. Most importantly we believe that apart from the map provided you need to know the hours/times of all the facilities without keep looking on the app. The people are very friendly. The excursions are very expensive.

Poor service, facilities look like they haven't been refreshed in 10+ years. Charged 100 USD for lost wrist bands which do not lock and fall off repeatedly. Resort is constantly looking for ridiculous charges. Would not recommend

STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESORT!!!
Our group of 16 had (at last count) 72 items taken from our suitcases upon leaving this resort. Several of us did not check bags, so 100% it happened here. We contacted the resort and were sent photos of "video surveillance" that were obviously tampered with. (the time stamps were white, but black timestamps were obviously altered) We believe the "free trip to the jewelry store" employees were involved, as they demanded room numbers from those to visited. (someone who bought a $1200 USD necklace had it stolen) We traveled with two retired law enforcement officers (State Trooper & Chief of Police) and they said they've never seen anything like it. I have since been blocked from their FB page when trying to warn others. (I'm certain I'm not the only one) They also upcharge for EVERYTHING and the beach is nonexistent. Good luck getting dinner reservations. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LUGGAGE OUT OF YOUR SIGHT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! I've been traveling all my life and have never experienced this anywhere else. I have never felt as violated in my life and feel strongly that I need to warn others. Stay away this resort!

A bit disappointing
We have generally enjoyed our stay but we would not class this resort as 5 stars. It needs a refurb to bring it up to standard. The staff are excellent and the food has been generally good with the Asian being the best restaurant. The pool bar was good but as our holiday progressed there was less and less choice of drinks especially premium brands which was disappointing and depending which bar person was serving we would get mixed service, Sergio was excellent, a credit to the resort.. I know the sea weed is a natural negative but I’m sure more could be done to clear it, the men they have doing it work tirelessly but never achieve a clear beach and the stench is awful. Would we come back, unfortunately not, would we recommend it to others, again unfortunately not.
