  El Dorado Royale is excelente!!

  We had a great time at Royale. It was Excelente. Big shout out to our butlers Eder Gavino and Isabel Medina. Also Rosa with housekeeping. Top notch service. Noe was our server at Cocotal. He was great. Always had a fresh squeezed juice and pot of tea ready at a moments notice. Manuel was our waiter at Haab. He was very personable and helped provide us with a memorable dining experience with foods we weren't familiar with. When we visited Aqua Nick one of our friends had her dress disappear. Antonio was a waiter in the members area. He thought he saw another person pick up the dress and walk away. He had seen where she had put the dress down and retrieved it for us. Great service.

  Fabulous Resort. Extremely Friendly Staff, Would Go Back!

  My wife and I have completed our 5th visit to El Dorado, it was great overall. About 30 minutes south of Cancun Airport. Our check-in was quick and the room available about 1 hr early. We had a swim up room and the AC worked great. Room comfy and clean. Lush atmosphere of the grounds which were kept great. It's a big resort, so you want to be able to walk, but they have lots of golf carts if your not in the mood. Food ranged from avg to great. It's subjective though so your the best judge of food. Many restaurant choices to pick from. I have two negatives, first is the time share presentation that they encourage you to go on, with incentives. Up to you though if you want to agree to go. The staff is the biggest draw for my wife and I however. The concierge staff were very helpful, Reina, Claudia and Kevin were fantastic. Always pleased to address our requests as we celebrated my wife's b-day. Wait staff at restaurants and pool were on point. Lu, Angela, Itzel, Eziekal, Eduardo, Marymar, Patti and Noe were highlights for us. Store staff and front desk of Cicely and Maria were wonderful and even a landscaper Juan Carlos was super friendly. All great people who helped make our vacation great. I would recommend this resort to anyone. The beach is rocky so bring water shoes to get into the ocean. The pools were fun, but my second negative concerns the swim up pool. Some have hand rails to get in and out of and some don't. Please put hand rails on all of the swim up pools, yes it's getting harder to step in and out of as I get older. If you want a lively atmosphere it's available and if you want peace and quiet, also there. Do your research, but for us the El Dorado is fantastic.

  noisy and busy.

  we would not say this is a 5 star resort. more 4 star. the food was just average .it needs to have more buffet restaurants as the one near reception is only open for breaksfast. had to go to the chefs market which was far away and had to get a shuttle to. dont always want 3 courses.also sometimes you could be waiting ages for a shuttle as they got full up especially at 6 ish when the restaurants opened. the rooms were not that clean and for 2 weeks when we were there the toilet kept blocking up. the sea was disgusting with seaweed so we couldnt go for a swim. the pools were hot and busy with loud americans. would not go here again, much prefer puerto vallarta on the pacific side. also felt more safe on that side. the nicest think about this resort is the lovely mexican people who work very hard.

  No longer a 5-star experience.

  My spouse and I stayed here several years ago and returned with high expectations. While the property is still beautiful and the grounds are well maintained, the overall experience no longer reflects a 5-star standard. The beach is spacious but not particularly remarkable. We visited during a quieter period (roughly 50% occupancy), which likely made our stay more enjoyable—there were no long lines or crowds to navigate. At higher capacity, I suspect many of the shortcomings would be more noticeable. The biggest decline is in the food quality. While still decent, it’s a clear step down from our previous visit. Service was inconsistent: a few staff members were excellent, but they felt like exceptions rather than the rule. The resort advertises included excursions, but getting clear, straightforward information about them was frustratingly difficult. We ended up relying on other guests for basic details—something that shouldn’t be necessary at this level. The checkout process was particularly disappointing. We were instructed to pre-check out a day early, waited about 20 minutes in line, were told a one-hour late checkout would cost extra, and then asked to return again the next day to stand in line just to hand in our room keys. It felt unnecessarily inefficient and out of step with the level of service expected. If you can secure a good rate, the resort can still offer a pleasant stay. Just go in expecting a solid 4-star experience rather than the 5-star experience it once was.

  Great experience

  Everything has been great, with the best room service from Jorge , as he went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of ! Also roberto took care of us in many of the restaurants, Cocotal, kampai, etc. and he was amazing !
