Still good
We spent 9 days at Ámbar. It was our 4th stay there. The food was still very good. The resort was well kept. The only change we noticed was the staff was not as happy or friendly as they were prior to the Hyatt buyout/partnership. They were still great but the big reasons we went to this resort were the food and the amazing, friendly, happy staff. The team was still great but they seemed to have lost the happiness they had before. Maybe it has nothing to do with the buyout. Just seems suspicious that the change seemed to coincide with the change

BAHIA ESCAPE AMBAR BAGGAGE HANDLER CURSED AT ME AND LEFT ME STRANDED!!
I am absolutely beside myself as I write this complaint because as my very first experience in Punta Cana, it has been demeaning and disastrous. I will NEVER return because of how I was treated by the baggage guy at the Bahia Principe Escape Ambar upon check in on 5/21/26. I simply asked if there was an elevator and he yelled at me, cursed and shoed me like a dog with his hands and left me stranded at the bottom of the stairs with my oversized bag to carry myself up 3 flights of stairs with a weak knee. NEVER EVER will I return to a Bahia property and I will ensure every patron knows about the experience and treatment received at the Bahia property ASAP. UNACCEOTABLE! HE IS A LIABILITY.

Great stay
Great experience, this was our first time in the Dominican, every thing a bout this hotel is good there were no negatives ,food drink entertainment and also having the option to go À la carte The app was a great tool keeping up with what’s on and when Great surroundings to socialise,we did visit the other hotels but Amber is probably the best ,also the golf buggy transport system was great The shows in the evening was brilliant And a lot of effort put in by the team during the day we also booked some trips out which were good also Would definitely return well done to the management and people who made our holiday Thank you room 64307

Some little hiccups .. still a 5
We arrived and the tour operator hadn't informed them that we needed a ground floor,my friend is mobility impaired. Sorted it there and then. As they did other little hiccups. The room smelt damp and a little musty but this was due to the air conditioning we think. Room service all part of all inclusive, good choice and always arrived quickly and was very hot. We found plenty of choice with the meals and places to eat. Mattress was uncomfortable for my friend so they bought a mattress topper for her, it didn't quite fit the bed (too big) but made a huge difference. Always hot water and lots of towels. Tipping is common here, we didn't mind that, however they didn't expect or ask for a tip. Lots of activities. You can't get direct to Ambar you are dropped off at Aquamarine and their buggy's collect you, same with excursions they collect you from Aquamarine or main gate but buggy's ferry you. We came away after 11 nights both saying it wasn't long enough and want to return. Down side .. some people were saying that there was problems with taps etc working correctly and the wardrobe doesn't allow enough length for hanging long dresses. Do visit the coffee shop, day and evening entertainment was really good, oh a lot of people bought insulated cups for drinks .. good idea along with the floating seats in pool sipping a cocktail .. heaven

Stunning setting
Just got home after what has been overall a lovely 10 day break. We have experienced some good, bad and average experiences here and would give an overall 8/10 rating. There are so many aspects that are 5 star and others that let it down in our opinion obviously. Firstly all the things we found of use as visitors from the UK, they do have a hairdryer in the room which for someone with short hair did the job very well. There is a coffee maker in the room but you can ask for a kettle and carton of milk if your a tea drinker which was nice to know, saves bringing a travel one. We did find out mini fridge was hit and miss at being replenished and had to ask a couple of times for this to be done, in the end we just gave up. The room was lovely with the AC and fan, although it was very battered with wear and tear, and the balcony door didn't lock, which we didn't bother about as we were on the second floor and used the safe. I would take the wardrobe moist collectors I only took one but wish I'd taken another one as the one was very full by the time we left. The room did what it needed and it's the best night's sleep I've had on a holiday the bed and pillows were very comfortable. A big shout out to our TUI rep Laura, very helpful, informative and always had a smile. As for service at the hotel apart from maybe a couple of staff every interaction we had they seemed to want to be anywhere but there! We got the distinct impression that soon as they realised we were English the service we received compared to others changed which was disappointing, maybe it's the tip thing as we just haven't got that down like our American friends, something for us to work on maybe even though we did try to remember to tip every time. We didn't find there was sunbed issues but I am an early bird to enjoy the peace before the entertainment around the pool started but was seeing people coming around 10am and still getting beds, the beach on the other hand was always taken. We didn't use the beach much one due to the beds and getting a little too older to get up and down from the sand, maybe in our younger days but the ocean did have a lot of sea weed which I know can't be helped, it's nature. The food was very hit and miss, we didn't particularly like the main buffet, for both service and food, we preferred the pool buffet and even the self service at punta Cana. We would agree with most on here that MEAT and Limbo are a must, even though the AC wasn't working in Limbo which made it a little too unbearable to stay for after dinner cocktails but the food in both very nice. Loved the app to be able to book restaurants and see the entertainment list. Loved the room service option great little extra and no cost. We did the Soana island trip and definitely recommend doing it beautifully and stunning place our best day here. Like I said so much this hotel offers which is great and only let down by a few personal niggles, for us stunning setting the grounds are very well kept and are beautiful, weather perfect, if service was a bit more equal would have been perfect, don't get me wrong the staff all work extremely hard especially in these hot conditions but a smile goes a long way.
